MAWOO

From Canada to Switzerland!

With MAWOO Let us introduce you today to a partner company from Switzerland that lovingly handcrafts high-quality and sustainably produced maple syrup products. Alexandre, himself a native Canadian, and his partner Nadine cultivate their own maple grove in Quebec. Every year at the beginning of spring, they harvest their pure organic maple syrup, which they then offer in Switzerland - and soon also in Germany and Austria - pure or in the form of delicious spreads, granolas or snacks.

The MAWOO range can of course be found on our marketplace:

In a short interview, they told us how Alexandre and Nadine came to produce their own maple syrup, what makes MAWOO so special and how they like to enjoy their maple syrup the most.

6 questions to MAWOO

with Nadine and Alexandre

1. Please tell us something about Mawoo and how it came about to produce Canadian maple syrup products for the Swiss market.

MAWOO's journey began in 2016 when we purchased a maple grove in Québec — very close to where Alex spent his childhood. What seemed manageable at first quickly developed into an important task, which prompted Alex to say goodbye to his engineering work in Switzerland.

Due to high demand, we first began to introduce pure, single-variety and organic maple syrup to the Swiss market.

With increasing feedback, a small range of carefully handmade products based on maple syrup has been created over time, which we have been producing in small batches in Switzerland ever since.

In 2021, inspired by growing success, Nadine also made the groundbreaking decision to say goodbye to her work in the Federal Administration and dedicate herself entirely to MAWOO.

We are now organizing the seamless import of our entire maple syrup production from Quebec to Switzerland and sell our products primarily online at www.mawoo.ch and in various delicatessen stores. In autumn 2023, we will launch our new online platform for Germany and Austria: www.mawoomaple.de

We are already particularly looking forward to this!

2. Which products does Mawoo offer and what makes them so special?

In addition to pure maple syrup, we also produce a variety of other maple syrup products. We have our product range in three categories PURE, TASTY and MOVE divided:

Die PUREThe range includes products made exclusively from maple syrup, such as our organic maple syrup cream — also known as maple butter in Quebec — and maple sugar. The maple syrup cream can be used as a delicious vegan spread, for example. Maple sugar, with its fine maple flavor, is a versatile alternative to table sugar. Both offerings naturally carry the nutritional benefits of maple syrup, including low glycemic index, antioxidants, manganese, riboflavin, and copper.

With TASTY We offer products that have been refined with our maple syrup, including delicious caramelized maple peanuts, delicious crispy granola and maple-glazed puffed oats.

MOVE contains only one product so far, but it is one of our bestsellers: the MAWOO Maple Shot. The MAWOO Maple Shot is specifically for athletes who are looking for a natural energy source, as it provides a quick and sustainable energy boost without artificial ingredients or additives.

3. For us, the Taste of Canada is...

For us, the taste of Canada naturally represents the pure taste of our own maple syrup, which is made with great care on our Canadian farm and reflects the flavors of our country (but we may be a bit biased! 😊).

4. If you could invite a special guest to dinner, who would it be? And what Canadian-inspired dish would be served?

We'd invite our siblings — who currently live scattered between Alberta in Canada and New Hampshire in the USA — and make them a simple stir fry with a maple peanut sauce.

5. What is your favourite way to enjoy your maple syrup or which recipe from your website should you definitely try out!

We use maple syrup and maple sugar in our kitchen every day and barely use table sugar anymore! Some of our favorite family recipes that end up on our table time and time again include maple kale chips, Tomato tart tatin and Maple cream brulee, just to name a few! We also always add a dash of maple syrup to our salad dressing, which balances the acidity of the vinegar in a wonderful way.

6. Can we look forward to more maple syrup products in your range soon?

Yes, but that remains a secret!
